Lightwell Cottage is a fully remodeled condominium that transforms a once dark, dated interior into a bright, welcoming home. Through subtle architectural moves and careful material choices, the space feels more expansive, more comfortable, and better suited to its owner’s life—now and in the years ahead.
Ceilings were visually lifted, rooms rebalanced, and circulation improved using architectural detailing rather than structural change. Throughout the home, low-maintenance finishes and aging-in-place considerations were integrated seamlessly, creating an environment that feels refined yet worry-free.

The main living space was reworked to feel cohesive, open, and quietly elevated. Custom millwork and moulding details define zones within the great room without interrupting flow, while stacked crown moulding draws the eye upward—making ceilings feel taller and the space more generous.
The kitchen was re-oriented for better function and visual clarity, finished with durable yet elevated materials that balance everyday practicality with a sense of luxury. Operable skylights with architecturally expressive lightwells introduce soft daylight deep into the space, providing brightness without glare.
A layered, intentional lighting plan ensures the home feels equally inviting during the day and evening, supporting both daily routines and relaxed entertaining.
The private spaces in Lightwell Cottage were redesigned to support both daily comfort and long-term living, with equal attention given to bedrooms and baths.
A former guest bedroom was reimagined as a dedicated music room, giving the homeowner a peaceful place to practice piano and guitar. A tailored daybed allows the space to function effortlessly for everyday use and occasional overnight guests.
The primary bedroom was conceived as a true retreat. Luxe yet calming finishes—linen wallpaper, custom draperies, and elegant furnishings—create a restful, hotel-like atmosphere that feels indulgent without being fussy.
The en-suite primary bathroom was redesigned to balance accessibility and beauty. Aging-in-place features such as grab bars and a curbless shower were fully integrated into the design and detailed to read as intentional luxury elements rather than afterthoughts. The result is a space that feels spa-like and sophisticated, while offering comfort, safety, and ease of use.
