Adorable Vacation Rental Decor Ideas to Charm Your Guests

Create a Warm and Welcoming Entryway

Build anticipation and make your guests feel special by decorating your porch and entryway.  Garlands and wreaths, real or faux, are an easy and effective way to add winter charm, as is a seasonal doormat.

And while you can buy rugs or mats, why not DIY a cozy one instead? A stencil, coir mat, acrylic paint, and stencil brushes are all you need to create DIY doormats for every season and holiday! Have a custom stencil made, buy a ready-made one, or cut one yourself. Here’s how to do it.

Want to make a great first impression? Here you’ll find more Airbnb amenities that will make guests feel welcome.

Cozy Up Your Living Room with DIY Throw Blankets and Pillows

Your living room is where guests will spend most of their time, so you want to make sure it’s extra cozy during the winter months. Are you a knitter? DIY chunky knit blankets are perfect for snuggling up on the couch, and they are super easy to make! Watch a YouTube tutorial or two, and you’ll be an expert in no time. If you know how to sew, add some adorable throw pillows to the mix by simply sewing new pillowcases. Choose a festive holiday fabric or a wintery plaid to really get guests into the spirit of things.

Create a Winter Wonderland With Colors

What says “charming” better than a white winter wonderland? You can easily transform your rooms into a magical winter wonderland by decorating them with whites, creams, and light blue. And don’t forget the faux snow! You can find snow in blanket form or in a can at most craft stores, and it’s perfect for creating a winter scene on your coffee table or mantel.

Bring the Outside In

Let your guests cozy up inside while still enjoying the beauty of nature. You can bring the outside in by mixing in things like pinecones, acorns, and evergreen branches with your normal accessories. They look great, smell good and you can’t beat the price if you’ve collected them from your yard.

Add Some Winter Charm to Your Dining Room

Winter will have your guests gathered at the dining table more than any other time of the year, so it’s a great time to up your game with winter-themed placemats or a table runner (or both). You can make your own with stencils or sewing, or support an artisan. Either way, you’ll make your guests’ gatherings extra special.

Even if you can’t sew a stitch and have no interest in picking up a stencil brush, a winter-themed centerpiece is one of the easiest DIY rental decor ideas you can do. Think of a simple vase filled with cranberries and evergreen branches or a pre-made garland. If your vacation rental is near the woods, a centerpiece made from a wooden trunk base, pinecones, and faux snow would be perfect!

Coasters are a great way to protect your vacation rental furniture, so why not DIY them? You can find wood slices at most craft stores, or you can cut them yourself. Paint or stain them with winter patterns – it can be as simple as painting snowflakes on them! Once they’re dry, add some cork to the bottom, and voila! You have some beautiful and unique DIY rental decor for next winter!

Use Fairy Lights to Create Some Magic

Fairy lights are one of my favorite ways to add a touch of magic to any space, and they are a great way to add some extra winter charm to your vacation rental. Fill mason jars with cotton wool or paint them with fake snow, and drop in a few fairy lights. You can put them in a guest room and line the window with them, add them to your rental workspace to create a cozy, working atmosphere, or use them as a coffee table decoration!

“Dress” Your Vases and Plant Holders for Winter

Have old sweaters lying around in the closet? Why not “dress” your vases and plant holders with them to add some winter charm? This is a great way to upcycle old clothes and give them a new lease on life. Here’s how to do it. Don’t forget to add some buttons or pompoms to make them unique.

Set Up a Hot Cocoa Bar

What’s more perfect for a winter vacation than a steaming mug of hot cocoa? Set up a hot cocoa bar in your rental and decorate it with pinecones, evergreen branches, and other winter-themed decorations. You can even set out some marshmallows, candy canes, and other festive treats. This will be a hit with guests of all ages!
